The feature article this month deals with the 2010 SWGDAM DNA Interpretation guidelines.  The guidelines have had a pretty major impact on how many laboratories are interpreting DNA mixtures - especially complex, low-level mixtures which often arise from touch or trace DNA samples.

This month's newsletter discusses the importance of performing serological testing.  Athough much of the focus in the crime lab (and in the media) deals with DNA testing, forensic serology or biological evidence screening is still an important and integral part of the process.  Available testing methodologies, including presumptive and confirmatory testing for various biological fluids are discussed along with potential false positives and mis-interpreted results.
